Awa Odori is one of Japan’s traditional performing arts, with a history of around 400 years. During the festival, groups of dancers parade through the streets, chanting lively calls in a distinctive two-beat rhythm, accompanied by traditional Japanese instruments such as the shamisen, drums, and flutes. Depending on the group, you can enjoy either dynamic or elegant dance styles, and the colorful, eye-catching costumes are also a highlight.
